Yes we are hammering away at our recorded movie backlog. I mean really what else are you going to do on a cold March evening? Looking for something light, we chose RIPD. It fit the bill for light entertainment.

The premise is Ryan Reynolds (who will forever be Deadpool to me) is a Boston cop who dies.  Due to a questionable action he took just before his death he’s given a position at the Rest In Peace Division for 100 years to work off his bad deed.  His partner is Jeff Bridges a Wild West sheriff who must have more than 100 years to work off his bad deeds.  Their job is to go catch dead souls that refuse to go to their afterlife.Of course it leads to a big destroy the world plot with our two heroes in the middle.

Heard this plot before?  New recruit to super secret service that deals with strange things among the population find threat to world?  Uh, MIB anyone?  Totally!  I can hear the pitch – Think of MIB with a twist they’re dead and hunting the dead!

Still it was cute.  There were funny moments.  It was well done. But still felt I’d seen it all before.  In the end I gave it a C and Mike agreed.  If you want light entertainment, you like MIB kind of thing and you don’t want to have to pay very close attention – this movie is for you.
