Monday Marginalia – Postcard from the Past

I purchased this card because it raised more questions for me than it had answers. Some time I might sit and make a story that has some fictional answers to them.

This postcard is postmarked 1906 and bears no message only the addressee and the ECC initals you see here. Being addressed to Miss Mary Riley intrigues me – what kind of woman in the early 1900s would find the image of the War Building interesting?  Was she in love with ECC and this was his way of telling her he’s okay?  Was he married and their love not spoken?  Was he in a hurry and just letting his little sister know he was good?  What did this mean to ECC and Mary Riley?
